On September 18, 2016, members of the Colorado Family Church and guests came together to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the historic Washington Monument Rally. Many of those in attendance supported the event 40 years ago either through fundraising, prayers, and/or through being there in person to organize the event.

It was this day 40 years ago that members of the Unification Church worked day and night for 40 days to create an event that echoed throughout the entire county. 300,000 people came to Washington Monument from all over the country to hear Rev. Moon's message, "America and God's Will". Rev. Moon spoke about the problems plaguing America, such as racism and family breakdown, that are still issues today as much as they were at that time. He called upon America to rise up and take its proper role in the world to give the Blessing to the world that it has received from God.

40 years later, we came together once again to celebrate this historic day and the people who helped make it happen. It was also a day for the young people in attendance to learn about the meaning of Washington Monument and its purpose in the history of the Unification Church. We had the opportunity to watch Rev. Moon's entire speech and watch interviews with those that were involved with the event. Locally, we heard testimonies from two people that were personally very involved, Jim and Shirley Chimes. Their testimonies were very inspiring and really allowed people to relive the experience or experience it for the first time.

Along with the testimonies and videos, we had a celebratory cake and also a delicious catered Korean dinner.

Thank you to all that came to make this evening so memorable.
