Celebrating Day of All Things in the Park & Community Potluck
On Sunday, June 24, in celebration of the recent Holy Day, The Day of All True Things, The Colorado Family Church planned a day at the park and a potluck dinner at the church’s greatest blessing—the newly remodeled Paco Sanchez Park, located right behind the church!
However, shortly after Sunday Service, a sudden hailstorm chased the children and parents from the park back to the church, drenched. This worried the community that the day at the park will no longer continue, most people went home, but were determined to come back for the potluck, regardless of how the weather would be.
Miraculously, at approximately four o’clock, the storm stopped and the sun shone brightly above the neighborhood. It was just in time for The Colorado Family Church to set up the barbecue and start grilling hot dogs and chickens. The children ecstatically ran back to the park. The families of the church, as well as the neighbors, came to the potluck with nicely prepared snacks, fruits, and desserts for everyone to share! Some had invited their friends who brought more food to the potluck, and the church had to bring out another table just to have a place to put all of the food! The event gathered many people from the church and the West Colfax neighborhood to celebrate, have dinner, and enjoy the park all together as one big community.
Local resident, Rachel Sours, brought her family as well as a plate of beautifully arranged fruits to the potluck. “This was my first time in four years where I felt like a part of the community,” Sours said of her overall experience with the event. “I felt welcomed and at home. It felt very comfortable.”
“It was a wonderful get-together of many generations,” said Colorado Family Church member Shirley Chimes. “I was happy to celebrate Day of All Things with a big age group, enjoying the new park behind the church, seeing the children and their families having a good time,” Chimes expressed of her amazement with the big community. “I want to keep doing that!”
The Day of All True Things is a day to celebrate all of God’s creation. God has blessed His children with His abundant creation. With the sun arriving just in time, the attraction of the new Paco Sanchez Park, and the community bringing food and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, the event turned out to be a great success.
