Japanese New Year Karaoke Party in Colorado
On January 13th, the Colorado Family Church community hosted a special event inspired by recent testimonies of exciting and bonding Karaoke nights from the Los Angeles CARP Chapter. This night was primarily for college students that were invited from the nearby campus.
Many of them are currently in the process of studying the Divine Principle. They were also young adults and high school students from the local community. In total, about 30 people attended the event, 11 of them being guests and 5 young adults from the church community.
This was the second Karaoke party held in the Denver community. The idea was to have a lot of fun, so everyone was encouraged to sing and lift up the atmosphere. Volunteer cooks prepared delicious and exciting Japanese dishes such as takoyaki, chicken teriyaki, osiruko, inari, etc. Everyone enjoyed the food and fun.
The program began with a prayer, and then James Vogenthaler, who served as the M.C., explained about the Japanese New Year and about CARP. Almost everyone shared a song. Even after everything was finished, some of the college students didn’t want to leave. They wanted to stay longer and sing more. This was really inspiring to see. Everyone pitched in to help set up and clean up before and after the program. It was so great that everyone felt a strong desire to do it again in the near future. We want to continuing doing Karaoke parties with a meal as one method of outreach which many young people can enjoy regardless of where they are at in life. We appreciated working together and all the support received from the local Church.
