Fourth Annual Spring Refresh
On Saturday, May 26, friends, neighbors, and members of the Colorado Family Church came together to celebrate the 4th annual Spring Refresh. The Spring Refresh is a Spring festival with a service component. Everyone, including children, work together to complete projects to beautify and improve the church and the surrounding area. There is also a lot of fun, music, and great food!
This year was the best year yet, building on the successes of previous years. Over 120 people attended, despite the hot temperatures reaching into the 90s. Children played together with water balloons, a bouncy house with water slide, basketball, water guns, life-size jenga, water misters, and more. Everyone came prepared to work hard and play hard. The Yoder family made a huge contribution by providing and preparing a fantastic BBQ for everyone that came.
There were many projects for people to work on. Some were projects that even little children could help with, which was really wonderful to see. The projects this year were:
- Removing the dilapidated fence between the church and neighboring park
- Cleaning two air outdoor air conditioning units
- Painting a room
- Cleaning the carpets
- Repainting outdoor handrails
- Repainting the parking blocks
- Sanding & Staining new dining room tables
- Tree Trimming
- Lawn Edging
- Weeding
After everything was finished, it was refreshing to be able to see all the completed work and know that the community could come together to make this happen. Everyone seemed to feel that it was a great way to build a stronger sense of community as well as a stronger ownership of our building. The children had a lot of fun together and could have this memory of fun and work at their church.
Lastly, David Mahardy, our building manager, organized and headed up all the projects and this year’s Spring Refresh could have not have been possible on this scale without him. Thank you David.
